Glade consolidates the essential business functions that law practices need into a single, accessible platform.
The Problem
Law practices face a documentation challenge that larger firms solve with dedicated administrative staff. They need to create professional proposals for potential clients, generate invoices for completed work, and produce engagement letters or statements of work. These documents must look professional to build credibility with clients, but smaller law practices typically don't have time for extensive document formatting or design work.
Creating these documents manually–whether in Word, Google Docs, or PDF templates–takes time away from billable work. Law practices often resort to inconsistent documents, reusing old proposals with manual find-and-replace edits that sometimes miss details, or spending too much time perfecting documents that could be automated.
Additionally, many law practice workflows don't actually require formal e-signatures. A professional PDF proposal or invoice often just needs to be generated and delivered to a client, not necessarily signed. The overhead of setting up signature workflows for every document would add unnecessary complexity to what should be a simple process.
Glade needed a solution that could generate professional business documents automatically using data already in their platform, without requiring the additional step of signature collection for documents that don't need it.
The Solution
Glade implemented Anvil Workflows and PDF Fill API to automate document generation for law practices, focusing on the generation and delivery of professional business documents without signature requirements.
When a law practice creates a client proposal in Glade's platform, they enter the client name, matter description, pricing, deliverables, and timeline. Anvil Workflows takes this information and automatically generates a professionally formatted proposal document with all details properly laid out. The firm receives a polished PDF they can immediately send to the potential client.
For invoicing, the same automation applies. As law practices track their work and close matters, Glade generates invoices through the PDF Fill API with client information, service descriptions, amounts, payment terms, and due dates all pre-populated. The generated invoices look professional and consistent, building credibility with clients.
Engagement letters or statements of work follow the same pattern. Template documents are configured once with the standard language and structure, then automatically filled with matter-specific details for each client engagement. Law practices can generate custom documents in seconds rather than spending time on formatting and editing.
The Workflows approach without signatures is intentional–many law practice documents simply need to be created and delivered, not formally executed. This streamlined approach removes unnecessary steps while still providing the document automation that saves time and improves professional presentation.
When signatures are needed, the workflow can be extended, but for the majority of routine law practice documents, automated generation and delivery is sufficient.
